1939-45
Jack's war was spent mostly in a forest in Worcestershire. He went to enlist in the RAF and as he was not fit for active service (those dodgey lungs again) was stationed with 25MU (Maintenence Unit) in the Wyre forest where they stored aero engines and other important bits of machinery.
It was during this time that he joined or indeed formed the 25MU dramatic society and his stage acting career began. Towards the end of the war they produced a play in the local theatre in Kidderminster.
